All eyes on photography in Vienna! The second instalment of Foto Wien will take place 10 March through 28 March 2021. The new photography festival is once again being organized by KUNST HAUS WIEN, and will feature numerous exhibitions and events on the subject of photography as well as projects by the participating partners, which contribute significantly to the diversity and quality of the festival. The Open Call for programme partners 2021 starts now.

Foto Wien curates and organizes a diverse programme that includes exhibitions, panel discussions, artist talks with national and international experts in the field of photography, a comprehensive educational program with guided tours and workshops, portfolio reviews, a photobook market, and FOTO awards.

In 2021 the festival will focus on two thematic areas:

1) Focus on Female Photographers highlights the outstanding work of female photographers from the invention of the medium in the 19th century to the present day and aims to contribute to making these achievements visible so that they can find their way into art history books.
2) Rethinking Nature / Rethinking Landscape focuses on the key role of photography in the perception of nature. Many artists contribute to the understanding of the current environmental situation and use the potential of photography to reflect on the often problematic relationship between humans and nature.
